While Janeway says he understands some of the criticism, it's support of the amendment is part of a fresh way the organization is promoting a healthy Adirondack economy as well as a well-protected environment.

One group wants an 81 mile stretch to be made into a multi-use recreational trail while another wants to restore the line. Take an in-depth look at one of the constitutional amendments on the November ballot: Proposition 5. It involves a land swap in Essex County where NY State would give NYCO Minerals the right to mine an additional 200 acres of the State Forest Preserve. In return, the company would give the state 1,500 acres and the additional 200 once they've finished mining.
