Convicted felons Richard Matt and David Sweat escaped the Clinton Correctional Facility in northern New York on June 6, 2015 and were on the run for three weeks. Matt was shot and killed, while Sweat was captured. NY voters went to the polls to vote on their local school budgets and the results are right in line with the passage rate since the enacting of the tax cap five years ago. 36 districts had proposals with tax levies that exceeded the cap, requiring a 60% 'supermajority' to pass and 78% of those were successful.
