UPDATE: Friday night (April 7, 2017) Governor Cuomo announced an agreement on a $153 billion spending plan for the 2017-18 fiscal year.Capitol observers this week felt like they were riding on a pendulum inside one of the antique senate clocks.
More than once it seemed like lawmakers had struck a budget deal, only to have it fall apart a short while later. Some of the sticking points include Raise the Age, one of the controversial bills inside the state's spending plan. First, Rep, Chris Collins made headlines with his amendment to the Republican's health care plan that angered Governor Andrew Cuomo. Called the "Buffalo Bribe" by some, the amendment would shift Medicaid costs from the counties back to the state. We discuss the back and forth between the governor and Collins that spilled over-the-air and on-line,
Also, a current and former WNY state senator were indicted in Albany. Rob Ortt and the man he succeeded, George Maziarz, were charged with eight total charges of filing a false instrument.
